Earlier this month, Microsoft’s marketingmanager Syed Bilal Tariq announced on a television program in Saudi Arabia that Project Natal will be in stores worldwide in October; see following video. Last year, Project Natal was introduced to the world during Electronic Entertainment Expo, also known as E3. E3 is the world’s largest annual convention where companies can promote their (future) video games, game consoles, and other features. It is said by the manager that during this year’s E3, from June 15th to June 17th, Project Natal’s exact release date will be announced.
Unlike the Nintendo Wii, Project Natal will be an additional feature for the Xbox 360 which allows gamers to control a game without a controller. Users plug the sensor (Project Natal) in the console which will register body gestures, spoken commands, or objects and images. The way Natal sees the player is like this: the device scans the full body when the person is within range. Then a skeleton is created which will represent the actual body, which is linked to a virtual body (e.g. game character). This skeleton is virtually pinned to the person’s limbs and will therefore follow the movements of the user which results in identical movements of the character. If this is still a bit confusing, then perhaps the following video might help.
Not only will Project Natal provide us with a new gaming experience, but it will also change and provide new possibilities in the way we can work with applications or interact with machines and people. More about the possibilities can be seen below; the announcement of the project of 2009.
What is your impression of Project Natal?

It's so cool
